The street children of Bucharest, Romania There are around 2000 children living on the streets of Bucharest, a city the size of Detroit. These children have run away from their home or orphanage, usually because of abuse.
Our two goals for the street children
1. Evangelize: Like all people, their biggest need is salvation. Sin has corrupted their family and put them on the street. Sin has put themselves in opposition to God, but through repentance and trusting in Christ's sacrifice they will be reconciled to God (Rom. 5:10). Salvation is life-changing (2Cor. 5:17-21), no greater power can enable these children to quit their addictions (1Cor. 6:18-20). |

2. Place them in a home: Home is the ideal place to learn God's word and His love (Deut. 6:4-9). The Bible commands us to care for the fatherless (James 1:27). The Israelites were commanded to use the Lord's resources to care for them (Deut. 14:28-29). Pray that God will raise up foster parents for these children (Psalm 68:6).
These goals are not opposed to each other -God's word commands us to do both. -These goals feed off of each other. Teaching them God's word will better prepare them to live in a family. Once in a family they will learn God's word more effectively. |
